The Upanishads declare that we have come from joy, anandam, are maintained by joy, and at death will merge back in joy. The goal of human existence is therefore to realize our embodiment of deathless joy, ananda-rupam amritam.

This is not an empty philosophical concept incompatible with the demands of modern life, but the true foundation on which education must be based if it is to fulfill its mandate-to enable people to live a healthy, creative, compassionate and joyful life.

The present system of education is based solely on the pursuit of desire, which inevitably leads to frustration, sorrow, anger, as well as destructive and unethical behaviors which destroy individual, familial, and social harmony.

As the great visionary and educator Swami Vivekananda said,

The present system of education is all wrong. The mind is crammed with facts before it knows how to think. Control of the mind should be taught first. If I had my education to get over again and had my voice in the matter, I would learn to master my mind first, and then gather facts, if I wanted them. It takes people a long time to learn things because they cannot concentrate their minds at all.

This prompted us to come forward with the Hariharananda Mission model.
