The Story

On 15 August 2004, we rented a commercial building in Phungar village, on the outskirts of the city of Champawat, and opened a free after-school coaching center where 40 to 60 children from various villages came to get help with their academic material (so poorly taught in the local government schools), learn art, play sports, and get spiritual and moral guidance.

Our little ones discover the wonder of colors!

In March 2005, we transferred to Joop village (3 kilometers away) when we were finally able to acquire an old, small primary school building comprising eight classrooms.

Our new "Children's Academy of Joy" in Joop village

On July 4th 2005 (the beginning of the Indian academic year) we officially opened our full-time primary school Ananda Bala Vidya Mandir ("Children's Academy of Joy"). We are now able to provide full-time classes from kindergarten to class 4 and have enrolled about 60 students this year. Every year, we will add another class.
