Himalayas: A New Mission is Born |

Hariharananda
Tapovanam (Himalayas) Loving and Divine Souls, Om namo bhagavate Hariharanandaya. I bow to you all. I have some happy news to share with you all... Recently, the principal of a small religious school in our village in Maneri (near Uttarkashi), Mr. Ramesh Pandey, requested me to build a primary school and help the poor people in Kumaon, in a much isolated and backward area near the Nepalese border. I immediately accepted, feeling it was God's answer to my prayer to serve the poor children of the Himalayas. Ramesh Baba and I went to the Champawat district, assessed the needs of the community, selected some land, formed a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help us, and formulated a plan for the rural uplift, women empowerment, and education of children of the area. Thus was born the Hariharananda Mission-India. Our first objective is to acquire a small plot of land and build a primary school and boarding house for boys, as well as train instructors (mostly pious widows, promising children, and humble priests) to conduct regular programs of physical, moral, and spiritual health in neighboring villages. I am delighted to see that God is now giving us an opportunity to bring the Ark of Love program in an expanded form to Baba's homeland. The need was also felt to form an American branch of the Hariharananda Mission. Its immediate goal is to raise money and allocate funds to the various programs operating in India and South America (such as your organization), as well as to publish educational material on subjects of self-reliance, spiritual education, and social uplift. God willing, in the long term, it will also manage similar educational and charitable programs in the USA. Consequently, I have requested some kriyavans to officially register the Hariharananda Mission-Ark of Love both in the USA and in India (as a non-profit, charitable and educational organization).
