udana (Sanskrit word meaning “up-breath”): a special breath taken with an extremely calm, short, and slow respiration; name of one of the five main pranas, responsible for digestion.

Upanishad: part of the most mystical scriptures of Hinduism, forming the final section of the Vedas, also known as Vedanta.

uttama: Sanskrit word meaning the supreme, the highest, the best.

uttistha: Sanskrit word derived from urdhe, up, and tistha, to stay; to rise for the spiritual fight.
