Bohdgaya

Bohdgaya in Bihar, India, is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a pipal tree (now known as the Bodhi tree). The gloriously decorated Maha Bodhi temple celebrates this event and at its heart is an image of the Buddha. Photo of carved panel courtesy of Image-India.
