The Quechan tribe has oral records that describe particular parts of the California desert as sacred. These stories are thousands of years old and are more than just tales to pass the time of day; they are route maps to guide spiritual aspirants on their journey to awakening and the tell of the eight stages of human existence. It is the Quechan tribe’s equivalent of the Old Testament’s Exodus or the Bhagavad Gita.
