The Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya, India, is the most important of all the places to a devout Buddhist. It is where he attained enlightenment. The Bodhi Tree represents the Buddha and is an object of veneration. The Bodhi tree (Ficus Religiosa) sometimes was used in Buddhist art as a representation of the Buddha. The Maha Bodhi temple is also nearby.
