Abraham
(Born: Abram)

“Will You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?”
–  Genesis 18:23

Abraham (early 2nd millennium BCE) was the first of the Hebrew patriarchs. He is revered by the three great monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which are collectively known as the "Abrahamic religions."

When Abram (a Hebrew name meaning "high father") was ninety-nine years old, the All-Mighty established a covenant with him and changed his name to Abraham ("father of the multitude") (Genesis 17:5). God also changed the name of his wife from Sarai ("contentious") to Sarah ("princess") (Genesis 17:15).
