Fr. Bede
Griffiths
a.k.a. Swami Dayananda
"We try to live our Benedictine life in the context of Indian spirituality,
that is, in the recognition of the Divine Presence in the whole cosmos and
in the centre of our own being." |

Father Bede Griffiths (1906-1993),
was a British Benedictine monk
who spent the latter part of his life living a life of poverty and
simplicity in Shantivanam, South India, in an Hindu-Christian monastery
founded by Father Henry Le Saux and Father Jules Monchanin. His
autobiographical work, The
Golden String, is held as one of the most influential books for
re-discovering the meaning of the Bible and Christianity.
