Elijah

“How long will you halt between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him.”
- 1 Kings 18:21

Elijah (9th century BCE) was one of Israel's greatest prophet. He opposed the worship of Baal under King Ahab and Queen Jezebel.

He is one of the two chosen souls described in the Bible as having ascended directly into heaven in his body form (2 Kings 2:1 and 2:11), as Enoch did (Genesis 5:24). Non-canonical writings also describe the bodily ascension to heaven of Moses, Abraham, Ezra and Isaiah.

His Hebrew name, Eliyahu, means "my God is YHVH." He is said to be a guide to all of those who study deeply the mystical aspect Judaism (Kabbalah).
