Ezekiel
(early 6th century BCE), one of the major prophet-priest of ancient Israel and the subject
and author of an Old Testament book that bears his name.

After the conquest of the kingdom of
Israel by king Nebuchadnezzar (as prophesized in Jeremiah 25:9, and
confirmed in Ezekiel 17:12), he was taken into captivity into Babylon. His
Hebrew name Yechezkel means "God strengthens".
