Johannes
Tauler (1300?-1361) was a Dominican monk and mystic, influenced by
Meister Eckhart.
A fiery-tongued preacher, he sought to bring his hearers to the
contemplation of their divine essence, instead of performing perfunctory
"religious exercises."

He became closely associated with the leaders of a new mystical
movement called "the Friends of God", which was devoted to spreading
Eckhart’s teachings.
