Joseph

“God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
–  Genesis 41:52

Joseph (early 2nd millennium BCE), the eleventh son of Jacob. A great visionary, he was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers.

After years in slavery and prison, he rose to be the closest advisor to the Egyptian Pharaoh, and was instrumental in bringing the tribes of Israel to settle in Egypt where they originally prospered greatly.

His Hebrew name Yosef means "YHWH will add."
