Moses

Moses son of Imran said,
"My Lord, who is the greatest of Thy servants in Thy estimation?"
and received the reply,
"The one who forgives when he is in a position of power."

Moses (circa 13th century B.C.E.): at God's command, he led the Hebrew slaves from Egypt to the Promised Land and gave them the Law (Torah) which he received from God at Mount Sinai. According to tradition, he is the author of the five books of the Law, the Pentateuch of the Hebrew Bible. His brother Aaron was the first High Priest.

His Hebrew name could be derived from mashah, meaning "drawn forth" (he was drawn forth from the Nile as a baby by the Pharaoh's daughter), but could also mean "deliverer."
