King Solomon

“O Lord my God, I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in (…) Give therefore Your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this Your so great a people?”
 – 1 Kings 3:7 and 3:9

King Solomon (10th century BCE), son of King David, was the most glorious king of ancient Israel, an incarnation of wisdom. Three books of the Bible are attributed to him: the Book of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.

His Hebrew  name Shlomo comes from shalom, meaning "peace." He was the last head of a unified kingdom. After his demise, the country split into two kingdomsthe kingdom of Judah and the kingdom of Israel, both of which were eventually conquered and their population sent into exile.
