St. Bernadette of Lourdes
Born: Bernadette Soubirous

“You must receive God well; give Him a loving welcome,
for then He has to pay us rent"

St.  Bernadette of Lourdes (1844-1879), was an illiterate young girl born in a very poor and virtuous family in France.  At age fourteen, she received sixteen visions of a lady dressed in white with a blue sash and a yellow rose on each foot, later identified by the Church as the Virgin Mary.

Bernadette asked several times the beautiful lady who she was, but she made no reply. Eventually, the lady pronounced in Bernadette's native patois (the unschooled child did not speak French): Que soy era Immaculada Conceptiou - "I am The Immaculate Conception." Numerous miracles have, and continue to manifest at the spring where the encounter took place, at the Rock of Massabielle.
