Thomas Hemerken à Kempis (1379/80-1471), Christian theologian, born in Germany. He was one of the original members of the Windesheim school of mysticism, which launched a movement known as the “New Devotion.”

He is the author of Imitation of Christ, the most influential work in Christian literature after the Bible.
