Red Lion: A Tale of Ancient Persia, the. by Wolkstein, Diane.  New York, NY: Thomas Y. Crowell Company. 1997. Probably a Sufi "teaching tale", it tells of a prince who on the eve of his coronation had to fight the ferocious Red Lion as was custom in his country to prove that he would be brave king. However, the prince was not brave and he was especially afraid of lions! He decides to run away, only to meet other lions waiting for him wherever he goes…
