“Read the best books first, or you may not have a chance to read them at all.”
     - Henry David Thoreau

In this age of information, finding good books, movies, or educational material to share with our children, and for parents and educators to draw spiritual inspiration from should be very easy, right? Actually, the exact opposite has happened.

Our culture of instant gratification, quick fixes, and general superficiality has spawned an enormous pseudo-spiritual literary industry, and our bookstores are filled with works of imagination trying to pass out as spiritual truths. The lay person is faced with a daunting prospect, if he or she wants to seriously explore the spiritual dimension of life, and not get sucked in the New Age watered down and confused version of spirituality.

Although it is enormously comforting, moving, and inspiring to read about past lives, angels, ascended masters, channeling, kundalini rising, visitors from other planets, healing stones, rainbow-colored chakras, aura reading, astral traveling, tantric sex, psychic healing, etc… it still remains false spiritual knowledge. As Jesus, Buddha, Shankaracharya and countless genuine masters have warned us, “The blind cannot lead the blind.” Only the Truth will set us free.

We are therefore offering this humble suggested viewing lists to identify the authentic gems that will help in our quest for spiritual education and nourishment. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and we warmly welcome any additional suggestions.
